Cloud Migration Challenge of PT POS Indonesia to the Digital Transformation ERA
PT Pos Indonesia is a one of biggest logistics / postal company in Indonesia. PT Pos Indonesia offers letters and packages delivery, logistics integration, money transfer, and financial services. Pos Indonesia serves customers in Indonesia. Pos Indonesia claimed to have more than 4.800 branches.
PT Pos Indonesia has served the nation from 1746 when the country was still dominated by the Dutch East India Company. To be able to survive and compete with disruptive modern logistics companies, PT Pos Indonesia realized that they need to transform, they need to up their game. From their legacy business model to modern one, they can achieve a faster transformation by using cloud technology in a more centralized approach.
Challenge
Pos Indonesia was Facing 3 Challenge :
1. Customer's servers reached end of support
2. Needs to flexibly scale the servers
3. Databases need high-performance to serve big amounts of transactions
PT Pos Indonesia has many on-premises to run their application, one of their issues is the servers are reaching its end of support time and they need to have an infrastructure that can scale flexibly.
On the peak season like "harbolnas", end year, etc, their workload be highly caused many people use their service (Courier) for shipping option on e-commerce. It makes they server working hardly to respond increased inbound to their system / application.
Solution

1. Assess, Migrate, Assist, and Support Migration
We offer to collaborate in migrating PT Pos Indonesia infrastructure to Azure. Starting from assessment, up until supporting them in continuous fashion, to have PT. Pos Indonesia experience the cloud-first approach. This, along the way, also unlocks a new potential in scaling flexibly to support their ongoing business.

2. Flexibility in Workload Scaling
In the process, Azure's native tool for migration (Azure Migrate) was being used. As part of the assessment in the beginning of the process, ViBiCloud leveraged Azure Migrate's assessment to divide migrations into several batches. We also enabled PT Pos Indonesia team to do their own whenever the need for migration in the future rises.
Result

On Microsoft Azure, they get better performance to running the application. With flexibility to scaling / resize the server, they can easily upgrade the server capacity to handle increased workload on high season with minimum downtime.
And for reliability, Microsoft Azure offer SLA 99.9% to ensure availability of they server and they get easier monitoring they server with Azure Monitoring services to ensure the running application can running as well.
